Child SafetyPolicy
Mastery Football Academy is committed to providing a safe environment for every child in our programs. This policy outlines our obligations under the Children & Young People (Safety) Act 2017 (South Australia).
Our Commitments
Child Safe Environments
The safety, wellbeing, and best interests of children are our primary concern at all times
Every child has the right to feel safe and be safe in our care
We take all concerns and reports of child abuse seriously and respond promptly
Children's cultural backgrounds, abilities, and identities are respected
We create an environment where children feel heard and empowered to speak up
We actively work to prevent harm through training, procedures, and oversight
Mandatory Reporting
Reporting Child Abuse
Under South Australian law, certain people are mandatory reporters — meaning they are legally required to notify authorities if they suspect a child is being abused or at risk of harm. All Mastery Football Academy coaches and staff are mandatory reporters.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to report any concerns directly to authorities and to inform the academy.
Identify the concern
If you observe or suspect child abuse — physical, emotional, sexual, or neglect — take it seriously, even if you are unsure.
Do not investigate
Do not conduct your own investigation or confront the alleged abuser. Your role is to report, not investigate.
Report immediately
Contact SA Police (000 for emergencies) or the Child Abuse Report Line (131 478). Within the academy, notify the head coach or director immediately.
Document
Make a written note of what you observed or heard, including dates, times, and direct quotes. Keep this confidential.
Support the child
Listen without judgement. Reassure the child they are not in trouble and have done the right thing by speaking up.
