Ready With Small Adjustments

For players who can take part in a 1:1 football session when we adjust how we run it: clearer instructions, a calmer setup, more patience and a predictable structure. Best when the goals are confidence, movement, routine or getting ready to join in with others.

The 1:1 Is The Starting Point03

Building Toward Group Football

For players who want team sport but need a calmer start first. We build confidence, routine, listening and turn-taking, then work toward moving across into our regular academy groups alongside everyone else.

Quick filter: if the player can safely do a private soccer lesson with small adjustments, this fits. If the session mainly needs personal care, behaviour management or clinical support, it sits outside what we offer.

The Whole Point

The Goal Is Joining Everyone Else

A disability program that never connects to anything defeats the purpose. The 1:1 is a starting point. What we are working toward is the player training every week in our regular academy groups, with the same coaches and the same teammates as every other kid.

01

Start 1:1

One player, one coach, full attention. We learn how the player likes to be coached, build the basics and get a routine going in a setting with no crowd and no pressure.

02

Try A Group

When it feels realistic, we trial a small group session or a holiday clinic. Short, low stakes, and the 1:1 coach is still in the picture. If it does not land yet, we go back to 1:1 and try again later.

03

Join The Academy

Regular weekly training in our normal programs, with the same coaches and the same teammates as everyone else. That is what we are working toward. Some players get there quickly, some take a long time, and some are happiest staying 1:1. All of those are fine.

Adjustments are standard here, not a separate program.

Our coaches keep instructions clear, keep the structure predictable and give a player the extra patience they need in any session, group or 1:1. You do not need a diagnosis or an NDIS plan to ask for that. Have a look at the weekly timetable, Mini Kickers, Development squads or holiday clinics, then tell us what would help your player take part.

Funding Fit

Keep the NDIS Part Simple

Plan-managed and self-managed participants can both choose unregistered providers when the support fits their plan goals. If you are plan-managed, your plan manager pays us directly and you never handle the money.

We keep the service description plain: 1:1 football-based community participation support. We do not describe this as therapy, behaviour support, personal training or clinical intervention.

Which plan type?

Two of the three, yes

Welcome

Plan-managed

Your plan manager pays us directly. We send them the invoice, you never handle the money. We just need their business name and the email they take invoices at.

Welcome

Self-managed

You book directly, pay us, and keep the invoice to claim back through the NDIS yourself.

Not yet

NDIA-managed

Agency-managed plans can only be spent with NDIS-registered providers, and we are not registered. Our private coaching is still open to you as a self-funded option.

We will ask: plan type, your plan manager's details if you have one, the goals in the plan, and what helps the player take part safely.

01A FIT CHECK FIRST

Before anyone books, we check the basics: plan-management type, football-related goals, what helps the player take part, and whether 1:1 coaching is the right fit.

02PRIVATE COACHING STANDARD

This uses the same 1:1 coaching model as our private coaching program: one player, one coach, full attention for the session.

03FOOTBALL, NOT THERAPY

We keep the support honest. It is football-based community participation and confidence-building, not therapy, behaviour support or personal training.

04INVOICES THAT GET PAID

Plain invoices for completed sessions, with the wording, dates and detail a plan manager needs. Plan-managed families never handle the money.

05A WAY INTO THE ACADEMY

The point of the 1:1 is to work toward joining our regular groups. Confidence, routine and participation skills until group football feels realistic.

Kyle is an amazing coach. He works well with kids and engages them with great enthusiasm. A passionate coach who gives his all.

Our son loves learning from Kyle and his soccer skills and game awareness has improved immensely since starting at Mastery about a year ago. We feel the program is affordable and excellent value for money. The opportunities are endless — we competed in a National League in Sydney earlier this year and can't wait for more!

My son's been attending the academy for just over a month now and has gained so much from it. He often says he'd rather train with the academy than his club soccer training. The coaches' attention to detail with the kids and drive to push them really shows through in his development. Highly recommend to any parent wanting to push their kid's skills a little more!

The holiday camp at Mastery Football Academy was great on so many levels. My daughter said she thought it was going to be easy and fun, but it was hard and fun! The coaches were very encouraging and the drills were well thought out. Would recommend!

The development I have seen since my son joined is remarkable. It's his 3rd year playing with a club, but after 6 months not only have his skills increased but his awareness and confidence too, and this has been noticed as it's transferred into his team as well.

The holiday clinic, outdoor and indoor soccer sessions during school term are fantastic experiences for kids. Our boy loves it and enjoys coming back every time. Kyle and the coaches are experienced not just in soccer but in leading young players to focus, learn and enjoy the sport. Totally worth it!

Very fast and effective help when you need it, the app is very user friendly and easy to use. And the atmosphere is just amazing — and it's only a two minute walk to training.

We're brand new to training, and our son wanted an activity to boost his confidence without the commitment of weekly soccer matches. Kyle and the team have been incredibly welcoming, accommodating, and quick to respond to our questions. George absolutely loved his first session and couldn't wait to return! Highly recommend.

We have two boys that have been players at this academy for a number of years, and throughout that time they have always wanted to be involved in everything — holiday, training, elite and overseas programs that Mastery offers. We've seen significant growth in them, both in the game itself and personally. Thank you Coach Kyle and the team!

I had a fantastic time at the Mastery Football Academy clinic during the school holidays. The coaches were brilliant at developing our skills using one-on-one drills and competitive matches. This made it really fun, and I enjoyed playing with the other kids too. My dribbling, passing and shooting have all improved a lot!

Tyler absolutely loves going to soccer. It's been hard to find something he sticks with, but every Friday he cannot wait to go — forcing me to drop him off early! It's great to receive feedback via the app so Tyler knows what he's done well and what to improve on. I love that we can swap lessons up to an hour before too.

My son has only been at the academy for 2 terms and the improvement and confidence he has gained from just attending Monday nights has been the best thing for him. I highly recommend — the coaches are great at teaching them the skills, footwork and drills to help them improve their soccer.

Coaches are outstanding, and follow a good system of player development. Both my sons participate in Mastery football academy and the attention and coaching advice they're given are on point every time. I'm also a qualified coach and find benefit observing the sessions. They encourage playing with both feet. Highly recommended.

Common Questions

NDIS Soccer Coaching FAQs

The practical questions families, support coordinators and plan managers usually ask before booking.

Can we use NDIS funding for soccer coaching?
Often, yes. If the plan is plan-managed or self-managed, the participant is free to choose an unregistered provider like us. The support still needs to line up with the participant's plan goals and disability-related needs. What we offer is 1:1 football-based community participation support, not therapy.
Can plan-managed participants book?
Yes, and it is one of the easiest ways to work with us. You give us your plan manager's business name and the email address they take invoices at, we send the invoice straight to them, and they pay us directly. You never handle the money. Plan managers work with unregistered providers every day.
What details do you need from our plan manager?
To get started, just their business name and their invoicing email address. Before the first invoice we will also confirm the participant's NDIS number, the plan start and end dates, and which support budget you want to use, so it goes through cleanly the first time instead of bouncing back.
Is Mastery Football Academy an NDIS registered provider?
No. We work with plan-managed and self-managed participants, who are free to choose unregistered providers. We do not present this as a registered provider service, and we cannot take NDIA-managed bookings.
Can NDIA-managed participants use this?
Not at the moment. Agency-managed plans can only be spent with NDIS-registered providers, and we are not registered. If that is your plan type, our regular private coaching is still open to you as a self-funded option.
What funding category might this sit under?
It depends on the plan. Some families use a social and community participation budget, and some use a capacity-building skill development and mentoring budget — both can fit, and it comes down to how the individual plan is written. We cannot tell you which one to use. Your plan manager or support coordinator is the right person to confirm it, and we are happy to talk to them directly.
Is this NDIS social and community participation through sport?
That is the closest plain-language description of what we do: 1:1 football-based community participation support. The session helps the participant take part in a sport activity, build confidence, practise routine and work toward joining community football when they are ready.
Is this suitable for autistic players or players with ADHD?
It can be. The real question is whether the player can take part in a 1:1 football session with adjustments rather than hands-on care. We keep instructions clear, reduce pressure and use a predictable structure, and a parent, carer or support person is welcome to stay nearby.
Is this an all abilities soccer program?
This particular option is 1:1 rather than a group. But adjustments are not a separate thing at Mastery, our coaches adapt sessions across all of our programs. The 1:1 exists as a calmer starting point for players who want a run-up before group football.
Is this therapy, personal training or behaviour support?
No. It is football-based community participation and mentoring support. It is not occupational therapy, psychology, behaviour support, exercise physiology, personal training or a clinical intervention.
Who is this best suited to?
Players who can take part in a private soccer session with adjustments: clearer instructions, a calmer setup, more patience, a predictable session flow, and a parent or support person nearby if that helps.
Who should not book this?
This is not the right option if the participant needs personal care, medication support, transport support, complex behaviour intervention, regulated restrictive practices or constant safety supervision during the session. That level of support sits outside what we offer, and we would rather say so early than take a booking we cannot deliver well.
What will the invoice say?
Invoices describe the completed session plainly as 1:1 football-based community participation support, with the session date, the hours and the rate. If you are plan-managed we send it straight to your plan manager. We avoid therapy or clinical wording because that is not what this service is.
Do you provide reports for NDIS reviews?
We can provide simple attendance and session notes if that is useful at plan review time. We do not produce clinical reports, therapy progress reports or formal NDIS evidence reports.
Can a support coordinator or therapist refer a player to us?
Yes, and it is welcome. Support coordinators, occupational therapists, physios, teachers and support workers can all get in touch on a player's behalf. Tell us your role when you message us and we will bring the family into the conversation from there.
Do coaches need an NDIS Worker Screening Check?
For unregistered providers, NDIS worker screening is not automatically required in every case, but participants can request it and the NDIS Commission recommends it. Mastery already holds child-safety clearances for coaching children, so ask us if you need a specific screening detail before booking.
Can a parent, carer or support worker stay during the session?
Yes. For many players that is best, especially at the start. We can shape the session around what helps the player feel settled and ready to take part.
Is standard soccer gear covered by NDIS?
Usually ordinary sport costs such as boots, standard equipment, uniforms, club fees or entry fees are treated separately from disability-related support. This service is for the coaching and support session, not standard soccer equipment.
How do we check if it is a good fit?
Message us with the player's age, plan-management type, football experience, goals and anything that helps them take part. We will tell you honestly whether 1:1 soccer support is the right lane, and if it is not, we will say so.
